What a WELCOME! by Deanna Rice I am so glad my technical difficulties have been resolved so I can make my first post to our blog! So much has happened in such a short time. I am grateful to Leah for sharing details of our travels. She is a wonderful travel companion, adding laughter and good humor to every situation. If you have been reading the posts, you have read about the enormity of Chilean hospitality. Being from the southern United States, I pride myself in the beneficence of the region, but the welcome I have received from my host family rivals that of the most dedicated Southern belle. They created a cozy room for me on the second floor and have gone above and beyond to make me comfortable and provide all my needs, but the welcome extends far beyond a warm bed and excellent food. I have been embraced as a member of the family, not just in their home, but with their friends. On Monday evening, I was taken to one of their favorite restaurants, where I was introduced to a couple of their best friends. I had such a good time, it felt as if I had known them for years. Laughter and smiles are universal, but the google translator app for iPhone is fantastic in breaking through the language barrier. And the food! I have taken many pictures of the food because it is so beautiful, and it tastes better than it looks!
